These companies will compete in Cannes for the top spot, and earn development funds as well as global recognition.

Go To The Answer is a new multi-platform game format where the public work alongside celebrities to crack cryptic questions leading them to locations throughout the country. To win big all players have to do is physically go to the answer and ‘check in’. Unfolding weekly across mobile, the web, social media and TV, Go To The Answer is the game that will get the nation on its feet.

Rich Media Tablet & Social TV Apps

Bring it Home is designed for a social TV app. The viewer can instantly retrieve 3D representations of the products aired by simply pointing phones to the QR code in the TV. The 3D object is then downloaded to the smartphone. Viewers can insert 3D objects into real scenes from their cameras. They can send these simulated pictures to broadcasters/sponsors. Users can observe how other people arrange the products and chat in a naturally built community.

NFB – Smartphone App for Youth engagement

The Media Undone Smartphone App enables youth to re-contextualize mass media images with a few taps on their phone – “undoing” the intended message.

Media Undone users can share their creation with Facebook, Twitter, and on the Media Undone Blog. The blog is also where teachers can access lesson starters and connect with Sophie Bissonnette’s films: Sexy Inc. + Staying Real, presented by the National Film Board of Canada.

The National Film Board of Canada (NFB) is looking for apps to be developed as a companions or standalone products in relation to the NFB documentaries “Sexy Inc.” and “Staying Real,” which explore sexual stereotypes and hypersexualisation of preteens and teens in media. The winning app should demonstrate that smart phones and rich media tablets can be effective educational tools while being entertaining and engaging through the use of the latest digital technologies.

Showcase the latest rich-media applications for smartphones or tablets. These Apps can be downloadable on rich media tablets or smart phones or can be accessed online through web browsers. Concepts can be innovative new TV/Web interfaces, Social TV ideas and apps that create communities around TV programmes, dual screen viewing or they can be pure interactive content but they are created in a rich media fashion based on other traditional media such as books or original content.
